Best AK-47 Skins Under $20 in CS2 (2026), Plus $5 and $50 Picks

The best AK-47 skins under $20 in CS2 right now are Slate, Ice Coaled, Searing Rage and Phantom Disruptor: each one looks like it cost far more, and in Field-Tested the first three sit under $5. Stretch to $50 and the Covert reds open up, with Head Shot, Legion of Anubis and the Redline all in reach in the middle wears. Under $5 you're choosing a mood; under $50 you're choosing a statement.
This page started as a six-skin shortlist and is now the full budget map. Every band below was read on 10 October 2026 from the lowest tradable listing on Skinport, counting only wears with at least three listings. Steam Community Market listings ran higher, because Steam funds can't be withdrawn: a Field-Tested Slate started at $5.00 there against $3.50 on Skinport that day. Prices move daily, so treat the bands as a map and check the live number before you buy.
The short list by budget

| #3 | Under $5 | Searing Rage | Gold-and-amber engraving, Classified, Fever Case |
| #4 | Under $10 | Phantom Disruptor | Gold and teal filigree on black |
| #5 | Under $20 | Aphrodite | The cheapest Covert AK we found, Field-Tested |

Under $5: the AKs that punch above their price

Slate still wins the stealth slot. It's a Restricted finish from the Snakebite Collection, matte black with almost no ornament, and that restraint is the point: it goes with every glove and knife you'll ever own. Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred all sat under $5, and Minimal Wear under $10. Slate's float range runs the full 0 to 1, so the cheapest Battle-Scarred copies are genuinely scuffed; Field-Tested is where the render stays clean.

Ice Coaled is the budget anchor for blue builds, and it's a Classified finish from the Recoil Collection, one tier above Slate. Field-Tested and the two lower wears were under $5; Minimal Wear under $10. Searing Rage, the Fever Collection's Classified AK, sits in the same bands and does the opposite job: gold-and-amber engraving that catches the light. Midnight Laminate (Ascent Collection) is the quiet navy-and-violet option at the same price, and Elite Build keeps an orange-accented workhorse under $2 in Field-Tested.
If the budget is a rounding error, Uncharted from the Prisma Collection was under $1 in every wear but Factory New, which was still under $2. It's the cheapest AK finish we'd actually put in a loadout.
Under $20: where the Classified art lives

Phantom Disruptor is gold and teal filigree over black, from the Prisma 2 Collection, and it's the most ornate AK you can buy for under $10 in Field-Tested. (Our September version called it violet; the current render says otherwise.) The Outsiders (Gallery Collection) sits in the same band with bright green, orange and red illustrated art, and dips under $5 in Battle-Scarred. Nouveau Rouge, from the Radiant Collection that entered the weekly drop list on 31 March 2025, is cream and deep-red art nouveau: under $10 in Field-Tested.
Two picks make this band interesting. Aphrodite is a Covert AK, the top weapon rarity, and on 10 October 2026 its Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred copies were all under $20. The community database lists it as a Limited Edition Item rather than part of a case collection. Crane Flight belongs to the Dead Hand Collection, which Valve launched on 11 March 2026 through a terminal offered as a possible weekly drop, and it is under $10 in Battle-Scarred. Round out the band with Frontside Misty and Point Disarray, both under $20 in Field-Tested.
One correction from our September version: Blue Laminate has climbed. Its Field-Tested copies now sit under $20, not under $10, and its float range (0.02 to 0.40) means there's no Battle-Scarred to fall back on. It's still a lovely calm blue, but Ice Coaled does the blue job for a quarter of the price.
Under $50: Covert reds without the knife budget

Head Shot (Revolution Collection) is the value Covert: every wear from Minimal Wear down sat under $50, and even Factory New was under $100. Legion of Anubis from the Fracture Collection was under $50 in every wear below Factory New, which is rare for a Covert, and its Factory New sat right around $50. Inheritance (Kilowatt), Asiimov (Danger Zone) and Neon Rider (Horizon) all land under $50 in Field-Tested and below.

Redline is the one people search by name. It's Classified, not Covert, but it carries the red-and-black look most players picture for an AK. Field-Tested was under $50 on our check date, and Minimal Wear jumped to over $100. If you're buying one, put the money into a clean Field-Tested rather than chasing Minimal Wear. A patient listing on Skinport or SkinBaron, or an instant buy on DMarket, all work; compare the same wear on each before you pay.

Read the table across, not down. For most picks, the step from Factory New to Minimal Wear is where the price halves, while Field-Tested to Battle-Scarred moves far less. That's the budget lesson in one line: the last two wears rarely save enough to be worth the scratches. The bands are from Skinport because it's where we could read every wear for every pick on one day; Steam's own listings sat higher, as noted above.
Wear and float: which AKs look best worn
A skin's float decides its wear, and each finish has its own float range. Some ranges rule wears out entirely: the Redline starts at 0.10, so a Factory New Redline doesn't exist, and Blue Laminate stops at 0.40, so there's no Battle-Scarred. When a listing looks cheap for its wear, check where in the band the float sits; a 0.37 Field-Tested looks closer to Well-Worn than a 0.16 does.
Some finishes hide wear better than others. Dark, busy patterns like Slate, Phantom Disruptor and Legion of Anubis carry scratches well, so Field-Tested is the sweet spot. Light finishes show it fast: Frontside Misty's pale areas and the Asiimov's white panels are worth Minimal Wear if the budget stretches.
The premium for Factory New varies wildly. For Legion of Anubis it's under two times the Field-Tested price; for Aphrodite it's over 21 times. On a budget, Factory New only makes sense where the multiple is small and the finish is light enough to show the difference.
What the October 2025 trade-up change did to AK Coverts
On 22 October 2025 Valve extended the Trade Up Contract: five Covert items can now be exchanged for one knife or one pair of gloves from the collection of one of the inputs, and five StatTrak Coverts for a StatTrak knife. Before that, Coverts were the end of the line. Now every Covert AK from a case collection is also a potential input for a knife or glove contract, which gives them a second kind of demand.
For a budget buyer that cuts both ways. Coverts like Head Shot and Legion of Anubis have buyers who don't care how they look, which props up their floor. It also means cheap Battle-Scarred Coverts are bought to be consumed. We don't print a before-and-after price index here because we couldn't source a dated history we'd stand behind. On 22 May 2026 Valve also allowed Souvenir items into trade-ups, alongside normal ones.
Edge cases
- StatTrak: most picks have a StatTrak version, usually at a premium; Midnight Laminate, Nouveau Rouge and Aphrodite don't.
- Trade-locked listings: cheaper copies may still be on Valve's 7-day trade protection; our bands ignore them.
- Stickers on the listing: a sticker can add value the seller prices in. Compare clean copies first.
- A full kit: if the AK sets the palette, our blue CS2 loadout builds the rest around Ice Coaled, and the loadouts page has other colour schemes.
- Other guns: the budget gallery covers AWPs and pistols on the same rules.
